68 points – Goan beach shack (no name)

INDIA

Cavelossim Beach, Goa

Total Score 68 out of 100

The WOW factor score in the total scoring for this offering fully reflects where I ate the vindaloo, but the overall score I ended up with is fair given its texture when served, its saltiness, and the lack of freshness. But I will always remember it and will visit Goa many times again to find the best vindaloo I know I can find there.

Serving Size

5

(Good amount for any serving in India.)

Color

5

(It was brownish red, not bright red.)

Meat Type

10

(Goat. I think.)

Meat Amount

5

(Good amount of meat, but even more bones.)

Meat:Potato

10

(Just a few potatoes.)

Consistency

5

(A little too thick and pasty. I assumed from being outside in a beach shack all day.)

Spiciness

10

(Ouchies-level spicy.)

Aroma

5

(The curry was intense, but something smelled off.)

Taste

4

(Very salty. To hide something I suspect (see above). No freshness, vibrance.)

WOW Factor

9

(It was a poor vindaloo overall, and crazy salty, and had sand in it. But it was on the beach in Goa, and a home-based creation by the family owners = extra, extra bonus points.)

Price (on menu)

It was 1997. I have no clue. Those brain cells were lost a long time ago.
